    NOPE!  Angie we expect RM's to give us a well-marked trail that can
    be finished safely.  If someone is riding a 100 miler too fast to
    finish the distance and they get pulled at 50 or 60 miles 
    because they were riding at their horses 50 mile pace 
    then maybe they'll actually learn to "RIDE THEIR OWN RIDE"
    
    RM's do not need to make sure that horses get slowed down
    early so they can get a completion. THATS the RIDERS JOB.  IMHO
    
    (Ive yet to ride a 100, but as a former and possibley future RM, I want
    enough VC's to keep horses safe.  I don't care a whit if I fail to save
    someone who is riding stupidly a completion by not separating them from the
    front runners!)

     Sorry to be so hard to please, but I wouldn't like that at all. I like a
    >   check early on for no other reason than to separate the horses up by
    >   recoveries.  That way if there's an unprepared horse running on nothing
