[RC] Tevis Article in AHW - Kathy Mayeda

There's a really good article in September's Arabian Horse World on the Tevis written by Jamie Fend.  Covers all the ups and downs.

A little light bulb went on in my brain about the riders who had horses tumble down the ravine and I did a little research.   It occurred to me that the guy who won the Wine Country ride this year on his very first endurance ride (much to the chagrin of all the ride vets)  was from Vacaville, so I checked the ride results.... and yep Jon Stevens was the guy!  He was bragging at Wine Country how he was going to win Tevis on Spider.

I remember meeting him before the Gastric Ulcer talk because I was looking for the RM.  Real friendly guy.

Being the curious person that I am, I checked his ride record.  He's not had good luck with Spider since.....  But the results he's having with another horse is more in line with what most of us experience!

I look forward to seeing Jon on the trail again - I bet he'll be a different type of endurance rider than he was the first ride.  I hope.  Just like I hope I'm not as stupid as I thought I was my first ride!
