At least 1 hour, preferably 2. These are at a
walk so you only cover 3 - 4 miles per hour. After a few rides, and some
camping experience they can go on a whole day ride. We took Wendy's Marla
15 miles through the mountains of WY on her 6th trail ride. (6 miles up
the mountain, 1 hour lunch break with water and grass, then 8 miles down by a
different route). Even though she is a flat land horse, she handled it
great. I think the challenge of mountains, rocks, and cliffs took her mind
off of the usual silliness of a green horse.
The highlight of that trip was a Cowboy we
met. He asked, "How do those AArabs handle the mountains?" We of
course answered they walk up one side and down the other.
