And now I am in the same situation again, but with my husband.
He tolerates 'the horse thing' but has no interest.  I am trying desparately to find some way to get him into it!  He is an absolute softy when it comes to animals, can't stand to see one suffer.  May have to go to an auction and rescue one, so he can fall in pity, then love, with it.  ;-)

Well good luck, if you find a way to make a spouse love horses I'm willing to try anything, and have.   After 35 years I've given up and just "go with the girls"!
He's marvelous about helping me take care of them, but camp and ride, no way.
