[RC] Six horses died this year at AERC rides? - Rides 2 Far

Sorry, I know racing gets a bad rap. I honestly just compared it because
it doesn't seem to bother the public as much if a racehorse
dies...because it looked like they were doing something so natural,
wheras, since they've never seen our horses they imagine an endurance
horse being pushed and pushed till he crawled across the desert & then
just dropped. Not that he pulled the rider's arms off, turned circles at
the water trough, and then got in a metabolic inbalance.
How's this for a better comparison. I know *personally* three horses who
have broken bones and died in their own pastures. In 15 years of
competition I have seen one horse die. Never want to see it again.
Think it could have been avoided if vet had stayed to complete the
treatment.
I do hope we find ways to cut the number even lower, but any time this is
discussed I want to point out our good record because you never know
who's reading. How about the horses whose lives are saved BECAUSE of
endurance, like Crystal's Charm? :-)
