[RC] Wild West, Tow Ratings, and Gee Whiz! - Scott & Dede Johnson
Yikes! Been gone all weekend at a ride and I've been wading through the
zillion posts or so from Ridecamp (glad I get the digest). All I can say is
HOLY COW! Go ride your horses!!
Had a wonderful ride at the Wild West Ride in the beautiful Sierra
Nevada Mountains of California. Robert Ribley, Melissa Ribley (head vet)
and his team of volunteers did a great job, as always. This is a multi-day
ride (30, 50, 100, and 2 day 100 if I remember correctly). Parking is a
challenge, as it is held in an equestrian camp that's not very big but they
are good about fitting all the rigs in. The trails were well marked and
beautiful, though quite dusty on the first loop of the 30.
The thing I like most about this ride is that because many folks are
riding on Sunday also, they are a lot of people there for the awards. More
than any ride I've been to, I think. The meeting and awards are held in
kind of a central area (even had a campfire each night) and it was conducive
to just hanging out. Way cool!
Now about the tow rating: my husband found a great resource if you need
to find out tow ratings on various tow vehicles (as recommended by the
manufacturers). Check out this site- There is a PDF file that can be
downloaded.
