    Good ideas, Mike,

I wish the cages worked for me but I have a size 4 D width foot, so my WHOLE FOOT goes right on through basically. But what I DID find is that the ADIDAS Response Trail Runners (New Balance has a model that works well too) are WONDERFUL! Not too high in the ankle, PLENTY of torsion protection for running in the hills, AND a respectable divot before the heel, ALMOST like a heel on a riding boot. Since I have a small foot and my mare is a bit of a spook, I rarely ride with much more than my toes in the stirrups anyway, but it seems to be a secure fit - and I can easily step out of the stirrups as well. Sure is better than, say, court shoes:)!
