OK, Now it doesn't
seem quite so bad. BUT I really think it is time for some serious move to create
a new award category, that would include the 2 and 3 day rides, of 100 to 150
miles. This is a great nitch for allot of people, and not having any recognition
at all is not a good thing. This will leave the 4 and 5 day rides which are
another level of completion, and probably do deserve to have the separate
recognition, and still give ride managers the option of offering the
good challenge of the 2 and 3 day rides, without the feeling that their
rides may be overlooked for lack of any nationally recognized "official" AERC
award. So I propose that we start immediately thru proper channels,
whatever that is, to create this new award category. I suggest that all the 2
and 3 day riders, and the 2 and 3 day ride managers, put our heads together to
come up with something that will fill this new void, and not step on anyone's
toes, any worse than has already been done. Time to move on to better
