    Gotta disagree with this one.  I spend 90% of my lesson time telling my
    students NOT to grip with their knees.  Do that, and you create tension in
    the hip and bounce all over the place.  Contrary to popular belief, you
    don't grip with calves, either.
    
    The whole point of this bareback thang is to learn balance.  Which means
    just sitting there, catching the horse's movement and "going with it".  If
    you grip, you can't do that.
