RE: [RC] Rule Changes - Bob Morris

    John:

There is a precedent set some place and I do not have it in front of me right now that says it is the same ride if you change only the ride manager or the location or the date.  In other words, if you change only one of the factors you do not have to sanction as a new ride.

So if you changed the location,  with the proper time line adhered to,  you would be OK . The time line is essential for notification to the membership.  The abuses of the time line in the past are what caused the extension to its current position.

might there be times when a substitute ride could be organized to replace one previously sanctioned though. Like if the Purple Passion trail could be used as a replacement ride for Idaho Spuds when there's fire restrictions in the mountains??

The proposed changes to Rules 11 and 11.6 fly in the face of past experience of AERC BoD members. The original lead time was 60 days and through experience the BoD and the Office found that a longer period of time was necessary for smooth interaction.

The variance asked for is also not a very good thing as was discovered in times past. We went through a series of hearings before the Board for abuse of the lead time requirements. To make it less stringent will reinstitute the possibilities of such abuse.

The various time limits with in the AERC Rules and Regulations are there for a purpose, and to lessen any of them is a step back in the progress of smooth operation now in place.
