Re: [RC] Bailing off a runaway horse - MtnRondi

Years ago I had a mare that was a chronic run-away. My first CTR was a nightmare as she bolted dozens of times. Finally two other riders cross-tied me between their two horses and we rode for several miles like that. Eventually they had to turn me loose and on the way back to camp she took off again. I was ready to just bail off and hope she ran so far I would never find her, but looked down and we were charging through a cactus patch. So opted to stay on.  One time I did bail when it was evident that I was going to be decapitated as we crashed through some low trees. I broke a bone in my foot but my head was intact. My riding partner said she would not ride with me anymore unless I borrowed her "quick-stop" hackamore. That solved the problem, but I sold her anyway.
