Ridecamp: Re: [RC] Tailwaters of the Rogue

I'm aware of a few things:

1) there was a problem with permits for the replacement ride. I don't know 
the specifics, but steph mentioned that to me.

2) the sanctioning of a replacement ride without the 120/90 day lead time 
would violate the AERC rules. There is:

a) a 1996 Board resolution which gives the regional sanctioning director 
and  the AERC executive director the ability to make such late sanctioning 
decisions, but that resolution was never reflected in the rules - which 
leads to interesting discussions as to whether the sanctioning director 
should follow the rules or the BoD resolution (and if the resolution is 
followed, then a protest (based on the rules rather than the resolution) 
might well be upheld)).

b) a proposed rules change (the addition of a new rule 11.10) has been made 
which would basically allow changes/additions to sanctioned rides to be 
made at any time. This rule is under discussion in the rules committee now 
(actually its been voted out of the rules committee as approved  3 in 
favor, 1 opposed, 1 non-vote) and will be considered by the AERC Board at 
its next meeting).
