    What they meant was that a horse that is not entered in the ride cannot
    suddenly appear on course to "pace" or "encourage by providing company" a
    horse that is entered.  In other words...a rabbit for a tired horse to
    chase.  Your gaited horse may pace, rack, cross canter, back swiftly or
    anything else your equine excells at to cover ground...so long as you are
    entered. :-)  Rack on.....
