In Ontario, it is fairly common to check in on ride
morning. The spring and fall rides don't usually start until 9am and many
people drive into camp in the morning, check in, and the ride briefing is held
just before you get on and go. That is the only place I have heard of
morning check in as a rule and not an exception for someone who made prior
arrangements.
