Unfortunately, this has been the scenario with QH's and APHA's for some
time, especially in the cutting industry.  What has developed is a bunch of
very unfeminine mares who have a difficult time getting pregnant or carrying
foals in the first place, never mind have any mothering instincts.  We've
seen the same thing in the Arab show industry as well--a trend toward
feminine stallions and masculine mares (don't forget that ET has been
"legal" for one foal a year for quite some time already)--and the
reproductive implications of it are a nightmare.
