    I don't think it's exactly flooding the market with one bloodline...when
    you consider what one stallion is capable of doing...but things could get
    interesting. Read an article a few years ago where if I recall correctly
    they found that there were quite often multiple embryos and the mares
    must usually absorb the extras.  They managed to AI more than one mare
    off one breeding...which brought up the question of stud fee.  How many
    did they owe?  In a sport like endurance where registration isn't
    necessary the stallion owner wouldn't have much leverage to try to get
    the extra stud fee.  Could they just wait until the foals were born to
    decide which one to register with the paid fee?
    
    Of course any tampering with natural productivity rates conjures up
    thoughts of the "Impressive Syndrome".  But it still seems like stallions
    are more likely to have a widespread negative impact from overproducing
    their genes.  I don't worry much about the prospect that AI mares would
    contribute to unwanted horses.  It's too expensive for people to do it
    without wanting the progeny.
