Re: [RC] Tevis Rules - Truman Prevatt

Before everyone gets in a uproar over the Tevis it would be nice to have facts. Just exactly what AERC rule does the Tevis violate? While I've not been there I know plenty of people who have and none have said there was a difference between the Tevis and any other endurance ride the way it is run. Every ride will have some differences based on logistics but in general the AERC rules are pretty simple and allow quite a bit of latitude.

As far as Haggin Cup, it is not Best Condition as defined by the AERC and that is perfectly fine since it is not claimed to be. The OD gives the Old Dominion. The OD also gives AERC BC which is juded in the normal manner. They also give a cup for best vet score. It can happen that different people win them.

The only issue I could see is if the Tevis listed the Haggin Cup winner on the AERC forms as "BC." If that is not done, it's not a big deal.

So let me get this straight ... Tevis is given the right to have rules that are not in keeping with AERC rules so that their riders get their points? And the XP rides are allowed to run their ride under their own rules even tho they are not in keeping with AERC? I sure would like to hear from Randy or Steph or other BOD members on how this pick and choose attitude is justified? I am pretty blown away when this stuff comes up when I see some rides being nailed to the cross, and others come along and it is "oh well" attitude. Who decided who gets away with what? RM
