[RC] serious side/ drugs - Rides 2 Far

What a bunch of druggies ya'll are! I knew I could count on ya. :-) I
believe this is for the Sept/ Oct issue, for which the "deadline" was day
before yesterday. :-P Any time ya'll notice me posting too much on RC
it's probably that I'm at the computer trying to make a deadline and have
    writer's block...so I just check Ridecamp for a diversion. >g<

Now...how to make this topic more serious ( this has nothing to do with
my article). At the Pan Ams the FEI officials asked us to fill out a
form wanting to know what drugs WE, the riders took. Hint was that they
would soon be not allowed. I've noticed in Endurance World that our pal
Michael Stone keeps listing "younger, more fit riders" as one of the
improvements he thinks is coming over the FEI scene.

Of course, he doesn't mention that these "younger, more fit" riders are
riding horses that some old broke down professionals break, train, do the
slower (far more taxing physically rides) and bring to a peak so these
"more fit" riders can win. I don't know about the rest of you, but
despite creaky knees, I'm without a doubt tougher and can ride much
farther than I could have at 22...and I seldom remember to take any
drugs. So what do ya'll think? Would you rather have a seasoned
professional jockey your horse or a "young fit" rider.
