[RC] Splints and Club Foot - kathy . mayeda

    1. I have a horse with splints on both front legs. I
wasn't sure what they were, so I casually asked a
farrier one day if they were splints and what I should
do about them. He said "yeah they're splints - just
don't look at them!" I have had only one ride vet note
anything about them, and I never had a problem with them.

    2. Club foot - more of a problem. Same horse
has "clubby" foot and was indicative of all sorts of
balance issues. Cost $$$$ and time to fix the issues,
but in our case it was fixable.

This is a horse that just "happened" on me. I didn't
deliberately choose him. Knowing what I know now, I
might not have bought him unless I wanted a project.
But since I already had him, I spent the time and
learning curve to do what was right by him. I am very
happy to compete with this horse now.

    K.
