[RC] This custom saddle thing... - Trailrite

I find it sort of funny with the subject of custom saddles made for a certin horse at a certin time.  What I've seen happen over the years is that a person purchases a horse, gets a custom saddle made to fit that horse then gets on and starts to condition.  Well guess what happens next?  The horse changes with excersize and conditoning and then the saddle starts to give the horse problems.
As a multiday & 100 rider on various horses, I would have to have a different saddle for each horse for each day.  What we do is bring two sizes, one wide tree and one reg. tree.  We can pad up for weight loss and for the real narrow types of horses we will start with a reg tree and pad up from there.
Food for thought...you can always pad up for weight loss.  We just make sure that "In General" it fits the back even and with good clearance for wither.
Most saddle fitting problems is not the saddle...it's the rider in the saddle.
