[RC] leaving early/racing/LDs.... perhaps a change of tone is in order - Ridecamp Guest

I think part of the flurry of un-subscription requests of late is due to the recent predominance of posts which complain about the activities of others, without contributing concrete suggestions that can be acted on by the audience that reads ridecamp.
If it really bugs you so much that a certain person sponsors juniors and then encourages them to race, TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT, and/or talk to the ride manager. Ditto for those instances when you see someone doing something that you feel endangers their horse (riding too hard, leaving to early or whatever). If you don't have the nerve to confront them directly or tp gp to the ride manager, then bite your tongue, grin (or cringe)and bear it. Don't use ridecamp for a place to accuse those you don't have the nerve to confront in person. If you feel the offense is that heinous or that prevelent, suggest a rule change (for example, requiring vets clearance to leave the ride before xx hours after completion: and NO I am NOT advocating that, just giving a 'frinstance').

I want to hear from you guys who have been there/done that what DOES and does not work FOR YOU, not your gripes about all the other incompetents out there. I have not idea what their circumstances might be, what their horses are like etc, so I can't learn much fromt hose posts. If you have a helpful hint as to how YOU determine when it is safe to load your horse up and leave, then by all means feel free to pass it along (in all the heated exchange over leaving early, I don't recall seeing any practical suggestions as how to know what is 'too soon'). Just spare me the finger pointing: let's keep it informative and practical.

    Just MHO.
