thanks for asking, Teresa. He bruised his foot, was all. I had his foot xrayed and the vets could not find anything wrong. They assure me that he still has a lot of miles left in him. In fact, they were kind of impressed with his xrays. No arthritis, totally clean joints -- not bad for a 5,000 mile horse. I think the glucosamine shots I have always given him really have made a difference. I decided that after all he'd done for me that he deserved a break (and my husband was ?'ing why did we have that 3rd horse for so long and hadn't done any rides yet), so after 5000 miles he got to go on his first real vacation and right back to the wonderful pasture that he was born and raised in. He is happy and very plump. :+)) He's actually doing well barefoot, something we never could manage with keeping him here at home. If I had not of gotten hurt at Mt. Carmel I would probably be riding him now but since that happened I decided to let him stay over there till I heal. I really miss him, but I know he's pretty content and can visit him any time. Being mostly one armed, it's easier on me not having as many horses to care for.

Glad you're healing from Chief's spill at Mt Carmel and
were able to do Ft Shellbourne. I so enjoy hearing about and seeing
pics of these rides that I hope to get to someday.

thank you! I hear from people all over that really love looking at the photos. I'm glad I can share that, especially to those people who wouldn't get to see it any other way. For those of you that ever get the opportunity to go to some of these really special rides, don't pass up the chance. You never know if it might not be there again in the future. Make it happen! Hope to see you on the trail soon :+)
