[RC] leaving early - LOUISE D BURTON

Maybe our region is more mellow than others, but I've never really seen a
problem in either leaving early or awards.
I manage two rides, and I don't mind if people take their completion award
early...it is a glass mug, and I'm not going to mail it to them. It saves
me having to keep up with who I "owe". I just check it off on my list that
they already got it. I also have never seen a RM here get bent out of shape
about it either....most seem rather happy not to have to keep track of it
later. As for effort, it's a heck of a lot more effort to mail or carry
around an award than stop and give it to them and check off their name!
As for leaving early, I hate to say this, but it's really none of anyone's
business whether people stay or leave. I guess those of you who think it
"odd" were not around when NO ONE stayed Saturday nights, and EVERYONE came
in late Friday night (and then partied until 2am :)). I remember thinking
it odd when people DID stay!

I could list a zillion reasons why my riders leave early, and that is fine.
I have very rarely had a first place horse leave early, and they finish long
before 7pm. Most that leave are LD riders or middle of the pack riders.
Only once have I seen a horse loaded up when I thought it should stay,
because they were pulled from the ride for metabolic reasons. That is a
    much bigger concern.
