While I feel this is a good idea...why is it up to the AERC, RM's & Vets to slow riders down?  It's only a few riders that do this type of do-or-die type riding over and over.  I was told that one rider that is in the above category, says that 2nd is the 1st looser!  What type of person can this be?  For the most part riders show the most concern for their horses in endurance.  It's only the few that don't...and it's over and over.  These riders need to be not looked up to at any level.  They also should never be allowed to teach or sponcer others into this sport.  We sure don't need more of these riders around...it's bad enough if only one horse has to go through the pain of an experienced rider going for a win in a dangerous way.  I'm not talking about the riders/horses that get into a position of trouble with something going wrong on a certain ride.  That seems to happen no matter how careful you try to be.  I'm talking about experienced riders/trainers/owners going out to meet some pre-determed goal they set for themselves for each ride they enter.
