I think you have grossly over estimated the number of  crazies who have so 
little respect for their mounts out there on the trail and unfairly miss 
characterized the legions who do endurance.

Were I to hazzard and estimate, it would certainly be in the low single 
digit %s. The legions I've met in endurance are not as you have 
characterize them. The crazies are in the minority -- well there are those 
that think ANYONE that would consider-let-alone-do endurance are crazy....

Maybe its just that all the yayhoos finished-or-pulled and have gone home 
hours b/f I get in from the trail ... and win.....
