[RC] mountain lions - Linda Dewees

I'm so sorry for Nina and her horse.  The story made me cry too, and it was horrifying.  A few years ago my husband and I went for a hike on the east side of the Sierras.  We got up to where there was snow on the trail, and we saw fairly fresh mountain lion tracks.  They were as big as dinner plates, and not from snow melt either.  It was a steep hill side with jutting rocks and my heart was in my throat.  I wondered if my sudden fear was just from seeing the track, or because I sensed the lion watching us.  We went up a ways more, but I was terrified.  I know how Nina's horses felt.

Take care, Nina.  You've been through a lot.  Happy days will come again.

    Linda
