    technique. I would not recommend pulling a horse or denying completion

    I agree with Steph on this. We have one horse that always trots out with his 
    ears back and he is just too laid back to show any animation until he has a 
    rider on his back when the ears go up and he moves out freely.  I have seen 
    dead tired horses drag their riders at a trot out simply because there had 
    been a few hard lessons learned out-of-sight behind the barn.  Julie Suhr
