Nope, Tom, and Yes, Tom (and what a great, colorful beard you wore on
Saturday!)--
Debby Bullis DID cross the finish line first in the 100, but I heard that
she was (sadly) pulled, due to lameness, and Lynn Gilbert told me that she came
in about 15 minutes later, finishing as the winner on good-'ol Chagall!!
In the 50, Jeff Crandall won by a very slight FIVE seconds, with Sharon
Becker coming in second. Those two did the last spin over the hill in 28
minutes!!!! That finish time was 1:37pm, I believe!!!! And, hardly
anyone was there as Teddy Lancaster and I wandered up to the finish line.
I was shocked to find out that not one photo was taken of them crossing the
line. Henry said he was told that no one would finish any earlier than 2
pm. The weather was so perfect, like Tom said, that it must have helped
speed things up. I had an absolute blast there, and was really busy
working on horses. Great people, great weather, great horses, great vets
(picky, picky, picky, but where else shouldn't they be so picky?) and great
volunteers and staff. The weather was dreadful before and after the rides.
OD was lucky. I left this afternoon in the probably usual heat
building up, with all it's VA mucky air and lotsa gnats.
Hope to see a bunch of you at Ft. Armstrong and/or Punxatawny up
here.
Cheers!

There will be another no more perfect day for this
ride. And there were 24 in the 100. 74 in the 50. Jeff
Crandall has continued his dominance in Training and Riding, winning the 50 2
of 3 years and training the winning horse last year. I fell asleep at
the finish line of the 100 before all was said and done. I think it was
Debby Bullis riding Julie Bullocks horse won the 100 arround 10:30
pm. Lynn Gilbert was the only Cavalry rider to finish in 2 or 3 on g.m.
Chagall. I think there were arround 15 finishers. Everything
is a blurr. I'll leave the rest to the #'s folk to correct me and
add. At Noon, at Fosters Landing (40 miles), Art Kings gadget said it
was 81 degrees w/a 60% humidity. It don't get NO better than that here in
June. Where were all you people? eating twinkies? or
planning your next or first ride. This management is tops and Matthew
worked his butt off on some new trail up Habron
Gap. tom sites
