[RC] Perform 'n Win - Roger Rittenhouse

    FROM Roger Rittenhouse roger@xxxxxxxxxxx
Let me jump in here again-
Perform and Win is NOT a concentrated - strong - as other products,
thus you have to give MORE -- LOTS more

The mfgr prefers to be conservative on the labile, has to do with the
    general user of the product.

Gayle Ecker and here staff tell me this

Use 2 scoops (oz ) for general dose.
Use 3 to 4 scoops as a working dose
Use 5 for a super dose

Now that appears to be quite allot - but the product is about 20%
dextrose - dont let nay mfgr tell you the elytes DO NOT NEED sugar
they sure do.. The issue is HOW MUCH,.

PnW is correctly designed per MY personal likes, its ALL the RIGHT -
correct ingredients. It is CORRECTLY balanced per the generally agreed
upon science of the ion balance .. that is the ratios of one part to
another - in my play book THAT is critical.

Last year I only use PnW and backed up with Lyte-Now.

PnW is NOT caustic. It does not burn my hands nor mouth and it will
pass the taste- swallow test for me - ie I take it without a gag barf
effect that ALL the other product create.
IF it burns my mouth - I will ASSUME it just MAY not be so good for
    the horse.

Now take that on to the ulcer thread and you get burnt stomach lining
or at least irritated. That along with odd ball feeding - and
race/ride stress and the normal 'usage' a horse sustains during a
    ride, -- go from there.

My gang will free choice PnW never spits out a syringe load.

I mix 2 oz with what ever -- mixer I am using, I MAY add Probi 1 oz. I
may use yogurt, I may use baby food carrots... what ever he likes. I
have NOT used much Malox last year.
I load up the old used Lyte-Now 1x syringes - saved the cap - the dose
wheel keeps them from dumping .
I color code the number of syringes per VC.
I give AT LEAST 2 hits thats 4 oz may give 6 oz.

ON TRAIL I carry one PnW and 2 LyteNow. I give one dose every hour
more or less. I TRY to give it AFTER he drinks.
He will drink quite well AFTER a dose.. THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.
It tells me I am NOT causing a 'burn' in the mouth

While other lytes do work I will not use any others.
In a pinch I would use and still recommend ABC Ride Rite. BUT I really
mix it well - dilute it with Malox and Probi. It does burn if used
    full strength.

The other elyte I still recommend is from J Bar D Ag in Ca called
E-LYTES, it is a grain based product, correct ingredients and all our
gang loves them. I out them out in a small feed pan at all the rides
about two or three hands full and he just hits at them all day. We
used this when we traveled out west. Went through a 5pnd pail over 3
days, I mix it with grain BP and free choice. The company is small -
they were at the AERC trade Show.

Thats my Elyte story - again and I am sticking to it.
