    Learned this from a professional paint horse groomer, and it WORKS!!!
    
    Soak the horse's dry tail with white vinegar, liberally sprinkle in baking
    soda. Pour on a bit more vinegar and add more baking soda. Let it all fizz
    up and remove stains and yellow. Rinse, wash and condition as usual.
