The reality is, for me, there
are people who are pure icons of our sport and their physique has nothing to do
with it, and I believe these are the ones who should be deified, not mere mortal
humans who happened to be born with a decent body.
These include people like Susan
Garlinghouse and Angie McGhee and Julie/Bob and Barbara/Lud and Steph/John and
many many more. These are people who have shared with us in a huge way, in
a way that has furthered not only those they have spoken with but the horse
world in general.
Yes, pretty pictures are nice,
and I like looking at a nice body as well as anyone, AND, the one picture I
keep on my desk where I spend most of my day is one of my grandmother. She
inspired me and continues to, and that is the type of calendar I want to
hang on the wall. So go ahead and make a "hunks" calendar, and also,
please, make one of the real stars of the sport.
To quote Grandma (which she
said with a glint in her eye and a smile on her face): "Don't be laughing
at me! You'll be old and fat yourself someday!"
