    That's exactly it Deanna!  The Open division is timed so that you trot the flats and gentle ups, walk the downs and rocky stuff.  Its pretty much a pace that will finish a one day 50 middle to back of the pack (depending on the pack :).  I think most "endurance" riders would be happier in the Open division -- plenty of trotting there!
