[RC] Dr.s and broken bones: - dpwg

I have had various injuries from horses.
    1st when riding a 13.3 h mare over a brush jump.
Made the jump and I let her run(she wanted and I let her)
We both fell on tall slick grass as she was turning up a gravel drive.
End result broken ankle and wrenched knee. Went to ER
Had brand new boots on. ER nurse wanted to cut the boot off.
I told my mom that the ankle was throbbing and did not hurt constantly.
I told her when to pull and she got it off in 2 pulls. (boot saved yeah!)
Could not lift cast for 2 days due to wrenched knee. I was 16 and could
    bounce back.
My doctor dad never said much about it at all (he was duck hunting when
    it happened)
Since then I have managed to come off of 15.2 h horses and 14.1 h horses.
Lately I have come off of my 14.1 h horse several times and he has made
    me hurt the
worst.(of course I am a lot older too). I used to land on my feet or
    sitting with my 15.2 h
horse. Now I am finding that I am not getting the tuck in fast enough. I
    keep landing on
my back and the back of my hips instead of the bottoms. Yesterday I fell
    on my cell phone!
Ouch! I carry it on a rawhide string around my waist . It had rotated
around to the back of my hip. I know to carry it on me and not the horse
but I would like to devise a better way to carry it.
I have given it thought and thinking about rigging up a shoulder
    harness(kind of like detectives
wear under their coats). No ER doctor has ever said anything to me about
    riding horses.
By the way the fall yesterday was witnessed by a park employee whom
    called a ranger.
The ranger was glad I was alright and very pleased that my friend and I
    were both wearing
    helmets!
