RE: [RC] dressage saddles for endurance riding - Snodgrass, Bonnie

I'd suggest you try the Wintec Pro Dressage with the Cair panels. Trumbull
Mtn Tack (on edurance.net) has a saddle trial that would let you actually
ride in the saddle. The Wintecs have the changeable gullets, the Cair panels
allow a little adjustment of the panels with the air pressure and I was told
that the stirrup bars are extended on the dressage models so your stirrups
are further back under you than in the Winted endurance saddle. Trumbull's
saddle trial seems like the way to go, so you can always turn a saddle down
if it doesn't work for you. I rode in a dressage saddle for a couple of
years but my current mare has such a dipped back that I had to change to a
Sport Saddle. I have two Smith-Worthington saddles, one is a dressage model,
the other is their trail model, same tree but just slightly more forward
flaps so you can shorten your stirrups for the hills. If you do get a
dressage saddle get a seat size that is a little big. You'll be glad you
did. Most dressage saddles have a snug seat that can rub and bump you when
you are going over rough terrain. Plus a larger saddle usually gives you
room to shorten your stirrups a hole or two so you can deal with the hilla
    and logs.

I have recently been fortunate enough to start taking dressage lessons and
hoped those of you riding dressage type saddles could tell me your thoughts
on doing endurance in this type of saddle. I would like to purchase a
dressage saddle soon and after reading the posts in the archive section feel
I am on the right track with dressage. I used to ride a Stubben siegfried
but have done most of my distance riding in an Ortho Flex before the express
lite even came out. It is a very old model but my horses and I do not seem
to like the System II I had put under it when the old flex panels gave out.
Any advice would be appreciated. I have all Arabs to fit and most of them
with a fairly short back and medium wide withers. Thanks in advance for your
    help!
