if endurance never becomes a spectator sport

can't you just see it now - along the course: "peanuts, popcorn! Get your souvenirs here!" Little Susie and Jimmy who have never been near a horse before and routinely confuse it with a cow - trying to creep under the rails (they will need them to keep the horses from bolting in fright and ruining the race) to pet ol' Paint. I am reminded of the challenge of riding a good show horse in teh show ring with little ones, baby buggies, balloons, all the racket, people hanging over the rail...no, endurance as a spectator sport? I don't see it. Besides, many Americans by nature are armchair cowboys - if you have to MOVE to watch it (let alone DO it) they will go find something else. MY brother-in-law told me so:)!
