in response to several different posts
regarding stallions. and endurance lines. - regarding that you can look at the
**Family**, not just individuals:

I give the example of IBN TAAMRI,
was never ridden.  He started breeding purebreds late in life and his total
of 15 foals includes HAWLA LA BADIA (IAHA Reg Champ), ULAMA ARABESQUE (LD National
Champ - 100% completion prior to a crippling accident at
home), AAS FAHD ALWALIDA, (IAHA National Champ), whose dam
was ridden endurance as a mature broodmare, and her son AAS AL SAKB has been
doing LD and just did his first 50 at the Bluebonnet.  FAHD's dam has a son
out of IBN TAAMRI'S full brother who has his Legion of Honor with
endurance-only points.  There is also RS SHADOWFAX and other endurance
horses in the *immediate* family. This is just the tip of the iceberg, if
you include the second generation and first cousins, the list gets much
longer.  this isn't meant as an advertisement, but to provide a specific
example of an *Endurance* **Family**.

You can look at the outside of a horse,
but as Heidi said, there are many things - the character, the mind, ..appetite
is an important one, .. the (internal) metabolics.... there are many things that
you can't evaluate in a specific riding, or breeding, prospect without spending
months, or even years, with that animal -  the evaluation of the
FAMILY can give you some insight on these points.
