Re: [RC] (RC) $$MONEY for NUTHIN'$$ - dixie midnight

    Hi, again, y'all!

WOW! I do believe I smacked the hornet's nest with THAT one!

To all who e-mailed me, Thank You. I appreciate it.

    Couple things here:

    1) Your sport IS in a growth situation--a big one. There's no doubt of that, since I get to talk to a whole bunch of people getting into it every day.

    2) Some sort of structure IS going to be required simply to handle the load of folks wanting to play, and educating them to the sport's ways.

    3) The only people who have a vested interest in that is YOU. How you do it is certainly up to only you. Really! I'm sure your sport will evolve as it is supposed to in the way it is supposed to, and most folks will be quite happy with the results. Most things tend to work that way, anyway.

    4) I popped that idea out for y'all to simply take a peek at how some other folks handled it. What you think of it is your own affair, and that's surely OK with me, but upon closer examination, y'all might find a useful thing or two in there. Particularly in the structure of classes, money notwithstanding. If y'all don't want prize money, then, by all means, don't have prize money! Not an issue with ME!

One last thing---NO ONE has a lock on the toughest of equine sports. Each horse, each rider, each combination thereof has their very own individual criteria of difficulty. It cannot be lumped into one category and said that "THIS is the toughest!" Each equine sport has its own degree of difficulty, each stresses their view of what's difficult, and each one thinks that theirs is the toughest.

It's just not so. Look...if the horse is so complex that he has so many different sports in which he can excel , how on earth could a person believe that theirs is the "toughest"? It just don't compute! The variables are too great. Methinks at times that it is the PEOPLE who are the problem.

The horse don't seem to mind much.
