Ok I HAVE to do it, I was just going to keep to myself but I can't help it 
:)  My two Rottweilers LOVE to go riding.  If I go without them I am shunned 
for half the day when I return!  They can keep up just fine and love to be 
outside.  When I was younger I had a Golden Retriever cross that was 
excellent on the trail too.  I think its all preference, as long as you 
train them right and keep them in condition too you'll be fine.
