I am not far from Jenn [maybe 25-30 miles] and pay $80.00 per shoeing.  She 
just lives where the fancy folk are......My shoer probably charges $200 up in 
her area.  I once asked a friend why he charged more in that area than in San 
Jose and he told me because if he charged his regular rates, they stopped 
calling him because they thought he wasn't any good.  This was about 25 years 
ago when he told me this and I guess it is still true.
