"Do we not have a country full of 15-20 year old horses that have arthritis, bone chips, old tendon and ligament injuries, back problems, etc.? " > Gotta put my two cents in here about older endurance horses. Not only as was stated are lots of the highest mileage horses STILL COMPETING, but lots that aren't competing any more are still going down the trail VERY SOUNDLY! > MANY older endurance horses may not be competing, but they are happy and sound and still happy going down the trail. Look at Bev Gray's Omner........he's sound and now helping handicapped kids. My mare is 22 with over 5,000 miles, and although not competing, she still goes down the trail with a competitive attitude (and no bone chips, tendon injuries, arthritis, etc.). There are LOTS of others like this. Just look around. > > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= > Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net. > Information, Policy, Disclaimer: http://www.endurance.net/RideCamp > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= > >
