Leaky Weatherbeeta sheets

Last year,I bought a weatherbeeta "waterproof" (hah!) sheet for my horse and have used it maybe a dozen times. Lastnight was one of our first real rains of the year,so out came the horse blankets. Three of the seven horses at the pasture were wearing Weatherbeeta's waterproof sheets and this morning, after a fairly light (but steady) rain, all three sheets had soaked through and the horses were all totally wet <sigh>.
Anybody else have this experience with these sheets? I emailed the company but haven't heard back yet.
None of these blankets have ever been machine washed in detergent, they have only been hosed off and hung to dry.

I guess I could try spraying some kind of waterproofing stuff on them, anybody recommend something specific?

thanks,
Renee in Northern CA
