Re: RC: What Horses Will Endure

I'm proud of you for getting that mare!!!!!!!!  Some of our best horses have been from the same sort of back ground.
I had a mare once that was stabbed in the back about 3 (deep) times.  She (Myy Hyy Starr) became the best mare I ever had.  I got her for a $1.00.
We've had a few more like that.  In fact, we have a nice gelding "Sharkee" right now.  He had been born and kept in a box stall for over 4 years.  He was never taken out nor the stall was ever cleaned.  His human owners were drug users.  They, in time, got a divorce and the horses (2 of them) went out to pasture for the next 3 years up in Northern Calif. some where.  The gelding was picked up by a killer truck (as requested by owners) and was coming through L.A., CA..  My daughter, Charlene saw the horse and got him.  He weighted about 700lbs and was FULL of Ticks.  That was about 1 1/2 years ago.
I bought/traded Sharkee from my daughter and now Sharkee has almost 500 miles and 1 BC.  He is a wonderful and loving horse.  HE LOVES HIS NEW LIFE!
Due to Sharkee's back ground of being raised in a box stall, he has a very upward neck set and a slight sway look to his back.  But when you ride him, your on something that loves to move as much as you!
So you stick in there with this horse.  She will love her new life with you & your family.  If you do sell her, make sure she will go to a wonderful home, because it is OK to sell these horses later on, if you have to.
BTW, Sharkee is on our For Sale list, but we are SO picky about Who will be his new owner, that he is still ours for now and will always be if we can't find "just-the-right-owner" for him.  As you can tell, I love this horse, but we're in the business so I can't keep them all.  I would love to!
