soft tissue injury

I am looking for suggestions/advice regarding the following situation:
horse experienced soft tissue injury, determined by x-rays and nerve
blocks. Soft tissue injury is in the fetlock area.

Would you suggest/advise that support boots be used in the future(and if
so, what kind?) and/or ice boots at vet checks and after ride.
