RE: search and rescue horses

Don't know much about training horses for search and rescue, but have worked
with folks that trained German Shepherd Dogs for search and rescue as well
as drug detection work. If you wish I can give you some basic info. on how
they were training the dogs to find live as well as dead bodies. I will
e-mail you privately if you wish since the training can be a little
gruesome. But these folks are some of the most dedicated people I know of.
Long process, and lots of tests and certifications.
For horse, I had one person that I knew that was a search and rescue team.
You need a real good stable horse. She had an Arabian! He was one of the
best they had!

Subject: RC: search and rescue horses

With all that has happened and seeing the dogs being used for search and
rescue, I'd like to know if there is anyone on the list who has trained
their dogs and/or their horses in search and rescue. I'd love to know
more about it, if so, and what someone would do to get started in this.
I think this would be a wonderful fullfilling way to enjoy our horses
and our dogs and do a service for the community. Thanks. Debby in
Missouri
