This year & last year (that I know of) the Tevis was started to help this 
problem out.  They had two parts to the staging area.  Line up VERY EARLY and 
pass the Yellow Flag, and go to the Red Flag for "Hot Doggers" (that's what 
the call them).  All other riders that were going for a nice completion go to 
the Yellow Flag and do not pass it  until the start.  How it worked out?  I 
don't know, I was pass the Yellow Flag this year. :0
