Re: RC: Walkie-talkie rides

I agree!  I have a friend whose Arab gelding is getting progressively lame from a degenerative suspensory ligament condition.  She can now only walk him (and do a little trotting).

So, when I ride with her, we do walkie-talkie rides.  I have found that these rides do wonders for a horse's state of mind.  The horse learns that it can actually *relax* while out on the trail.  I think it's good for them mentally to have this type of outing every once in a while.

I love a w-t ride every now and then.  It gives a whole new
perspective to riding, not having to worry about if you are doing enough or
too much conditioning.  Also I am not tired or dirty afterwards and have
actually looked at the scenery.
