RE: Conflict of Interest

I think you have to look at the structure of the organizations. The USET
exists for an elitist set of people. Speak with those equestrians outside of
endurance and you will find a very strong indication of this. Look at their
sponsors. VERY elitist group. And the USET depends on these sponsors. Visit
their facilities and you will really learn the meaning of elitist.

Now, the real question is why did the USET grab on to endurance riding.
Consider the fact that the FEI acknowledged Endurance sometime around 1950,
but the USET waited until just recently. Considerer the fact that there was
relatively no money in endurance, not even in the FEI or ELDRIC. Along came
a financial interest in the sport and USET is very interested.

Mind you, this is conjecture, but the timing is exact, am I far from wrong?

The USET MUST satisfy their sponsors or the finances dry up. The only way to
do this is to win! If Endurance does not produce the prerequisite winners,
how long will USET continue to support a losing image?

Very serious things to think about. Compare the type of riders in combined
training or dressage with those currently doing endurance. A vast difference
in personality and financial standing. Any one can try for the Endurance
Championships but not any one can do this for the other disciplines.

Endurance is unique in that you and I can be competitors on any level we
want, let's keep it that way.

Actually, I just rechecked the order sheet and from the illustration it
appears to simply say USA-East Endurance with a little stickman on a
running horse. Gotta admit, being called a walking billboard sort of
hurts my vanity. I'm afraid you hit a little close to home as far as what
I'm built like. >g<

I can't imagine that they'd get much publicity buying my uniform. I just
don't get that many people staring at my chest these days. Now...if
they'd like to buy me a big USET water tank I might could do them some
good... As far at them "using me" that reminds me of the quote, "If this
is torture..chain me to the wall!"

Dealing with a young lady named Amy at AHSA for my passport was one of
the best experiences with customer service I've ever had. She was
absolutely wonderful. If AHSA will make her CEO I might vote for
them...if they'll also buy my uniform *and* a water tank. :-)
