New on-line ride services available for AERC members

The AERC technical committee has added new on-line "member only" services with Russ Humphrey
and I doing the work. The new services are member only with your personal login ID
and password for your personal web page where you can

   1. review/change personal information - address, phone, WT div, e-mail address, fax
   2. review/change horse information - foaling date, breed, registry info, nickname...
   3. notification when new rides are added to the calendar in selected regions
   4. the creation and modification of "personal ride calendars"
   5. request for notification on the arrival of ride results on-line
   6. request for notification when calendar information changes - cancel, location changes, address
     entry forms, web sites
   7. direct review of personal and horse history reports - your rider and horse history back to 1984
   8. notification of points awards posting on-line
   9. notification under some circumstances when you have a * for missing info on your ride result

When you submit a change - you will be notified when the office has accepted your
changes by e-mail. The alerts above would come to the e-mail address you supply.

There's lots of more info about the site below, but if you're in a hurry to check
it out, go here:

http://www.doublejoy.com/erol/aerc/mbr/

click on the "new here - activate" link, where you will enter your e-mail address as
the first login and your initial password will be your AERC number(as 8941 - not #8941).
Once your online membership is 'activated', you can chose your own login ID
and password.

If you have troubles using the site - send me e-mail at mmaul@flash.net to
get started.

Please pass this note along to AERC members who you think might not be on Ridecamp
so that we can make it available to all even if they are not on the regular e-mail
boards.

Or if you are on some regional endurance groups - please repost it there. It
will also be published in the next EN.

We would like to get good estimate of our on-line membership.
Something like 60% of all US households now have PCs.

Hope you like the new services. Send us feedback on how you like it and suggestions
for improvement.

Mike and Russ

************* More info*********
There are lots of pluses with the new system

It enables a member to see and correct information easily with the office.

It saves the office work because all they have to do is approve the changes
and it is added to the office database. Plus they don't have to re-enter it.

It can significantly improve the accuracy of our current member and horse data.
We will have better information on breeds and their amount of competition.
We have improved member info, correct wt divisions, you know if your dues
are paid...

We also hope to get a better estimate of what part of the membership is on-line.
If a substantial portion of the membership is on-line - and at least login in
once to look at their data - we will know whether more services should be on-line.

It can enable a member to see that the ride they just did doesn't have all the
info the office needs to correctly add it to your record. There ia a caveat
on this - we need at least one AERC number on you or your horse - both
missing will not enable us to send to the horse owner or the rider...
