Davis barrier boots

Has anybody tried the Davis barrier boots? I don't like using shoes on my horse so I'm exploring the various bot options. I don't have a ton of $$ to spend experimenting right now. My main concern with the barrier boots would probably be any rubbing that could take place... I was thinking of trying them and putting a little vetrap around it to minimize chafing at the top. Has anybody tried them? How did they work? I am also considering easy boots but I've heard they fall off in mud and theres a lot of mud in my area. Thanks for the input.
