Endurance In the Olymipics

Tony Corbelletta antonio_corbelletta@affymetrix.com
I don't think that Endurance will be in the Olymipics any time soon. It
is not a sport that can be easily shown on TV and does not appeal to a
large audiance. The general public does not have a clue.
I watched the triathelon compitition in the last Olympics, being used to
Ironman Tri.'s, with 2.5 mile swim, 100 mile plus bike race, and a 26.2
mile run. At the Olympics however, it was a much shorter event. I was
told by my runner/tri friends that they do not want to have an Ironman Tri
becouse it takes too much time and the TV networks will not cover it. TV,
BTW, is were all the money comes from.
The other thing that would be a disaster is to have a few horses shown on
TV on IV's or having some other problems.(Like at Tevis) Not good. The
animal rights folks would just love that.
